The “Glamorous” Life of a Keynote Speaker
Traveling the globe as a keynote speaker may sound glamorous – flying to amazing locations, meeting new people, taking the stage for 60-75 minutes, snapping a few pictures, and then jetting off to the next exotic stop. Right? But sometimes, looks can be deceiving and travel is not always all it’s cracked up to be.
Just ask customer experience and employee engagement speaker Lior Arussy. At a recent event, Lior had what can only be described as a “not so glamorous” travel experience. After a cancelled flight grounded him indefinitely, things were not looking good for Lior to arrive for his keynote speech on time. Lior and the Executive Speakers Bureau team worked through the night coming up with a Plan B. What little sleep Lior did get was on a bench in the airport outside Terminal A. Thankfully, our client was able to push Lior’s keynote to a later time in the afternoon, allowing us more time to get him to his destination. When Lior finally arrived to the conference, he was sleep deprived, yet positive and ready to work. He was provided a translator, as most of his audience did not speak English, and away he went – 90 minutes on “Customer Service as a Growth Strategy”.
And, he nailed it. Despite all of the hiccups and lack of sleep along the way, Lior delivered a stellar keynote, and his audience loved him. Just check out this feedback:
“Lior´s speech was really good! Everyone was really happy with him, especially the VPs.”
“I just wanted to send you a quick note to thank you for all your support. It came out perfect!”
There is a reason Lior Arussy is one of the world’s leading consultants on customer experience and customer centric transformation – he delivers results. He knows that despite the challenges along the way, giving your client (his audience, in this case) 100% of your energy and focus is what matters. Sleep can always come later.
